UFred students receive the same high-quality education, networking opportunities, and collaboration obtained from an on-campus program, online; students interact with professors and peers on an ongoing basis. Students can ask questions, participate in discussions, and work collaboratively on study material, completely online.
Weekly live faculty-led lectures and seminars, known as vClasses (virtual classes), are delivered using the state-of-the-art synchronous courseware, WebEx, which is a product of Cisco Systems, Inc. The WebEx platform allows for highly interactive opportunities between faculty and students, and within student groups. Features include document sharing, high-definition video playback, full-motion PowerPoint presentations, whiteboards, and virtual breakout sessions. All vClasses are recorded, allowing students to review sessions after they’ve occurred. Additionally, students are able to use the vClassrooms, or “Student Rooms”, to meet and work on projects together for their various courses.
If you’re interested in learning more about how we use Cisco WebEx, please take a look at the Cisco Case Study in which we were featured.
The University of Fredericton was also Canada’s first online university to deliver classes exclusively via Cisco WebEx. To learn more about the benefits of its adoption, click here to read more.
In addition to WebEx, students have access to the 24/7 course management system, Moodle, which houses an array of student resources such as course syllabi, assignments, reference materials and links, and discussion board exchanges. UFred uses this platform as our Online Campus.
Beyond class resources, students can also access resources related to technical support and Student Services, and can also access the Dr. Gordon Kuhn Library.
If you are a current student looking to login, you can access the online campus here.
