University of Fredericton instructor Dianne Dyck publishes two new Health & Safety textbooks with applied focus

University of Fredericton instructor Dianne Dyck recently published two new textbooks for health and safety professionals that allow readers to apply the information directly to their workplace, regardless of industry.

Occupational Health & Safety – Theory, Strategy & Industry Practice, 3rd Edition will guide readers on how to design and implement an effective occupational health and safety (OH&S) management system and program. The content includes topics such as who should be involved, the legalities and ethics to consider, how to market an OH&S program, and much more.

A Practical Guide to Psychological Health & Safety in the Workplace, also authored by Dyck with contributions from several industry experts, is the first book in Canada that is dedicated to managing employees’ psychological health and safety (PHS). The book offers a comprehensive overview of the PHS issues that are most commonly faced in workplaces today.

In describing the real-world applicability of the books, Dyck said “Since industry application is the focus of both texts, students report that they are able to apply the principles and practices presented. As well, both texts offer practice standards and tools that can be readily adapted to their specific workplace.”
