EMBA student wins award for Outstanding Service to CSSE

Peter Sturm recognized as Volunteer of the Year

The University of Fredericton (UFred) would like to congratulate Peter Sturm for being awarded for Outstanding Service to the Canadian Society of Safety Engineering (CSSE) (Volunteer of the Year Award).

Peter is a student of the Global Leadership stream of our Executive MBA program and has an extensive background in Occupational Health and Safety. In 2015, the CSSE awarded him National Safety Professional of the Year.

According to the CSSE, the awards for Outstanding Service to CSSE (Volunteer of the Year) are presented to CSSE members who demonstrate their volunteer commitment at the chapter, regional and/or national levels. For this award, Chapter Chairs or a Chapter Executive member submit nominations for the Chapter level; Regional Vice Presidents nominate for the Regional level; and the Awards Committee with select Board members nominate for the National level.

“To say the least, I am honoured and humbled by the recognition of the CSSE, the CSSE Executive, and the members both in Canada and internationally. I believe that Canada and Canadian safety practitioners and members are some of the best safety minds. Practitioners and are getting excellent safety and prevention results in Canadian workplaces and around the world,” Peter said.

He added that working on his EMBA through UFred is helping him get performance and sustainability results with C-suite leaders, corporate board members, and leaders in workplaces across our country and abroad.
