University of Fredericton partners with the Forum for International Trade Training (FITT) to create a pathway to FITT credentials for Bachelor of Business Administration students

Fredericton, November 15, 2023 – The University of Fredericton (Ufred) is pleased to announce a new partnership with the Forum for International Trade Training (FITT) that will provide Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) students studying International Business the opportunity to achieve FITT credentials. This partnership aims to provide students with enhanced opportunities in the field of international business by offering FITTskills courses, equipping students with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in the global marketplace.

“The alliance between the University of Fredericton and the Forum for International Trade Training exemplifies a stride towards cultivating a generation of adept business leaders,” said Michael Hobeck, UFred’s Dean of Academics, “through the integration of FITTskills courses within our Bachelor of Business Administration program, we are not only elevating the academic experience but also emboldening our students with the global business acumen essential in today’s borderless business landscape.”

The International Business stream offered at UFred has been designed to include FITTskills courses, creating a seamless connection between the knowledge requirements of FITT’s credentials and the International Business stream. By enrolling in these courses, students gain a comprehensive understanding of global trade practices, international market research, logistics, and international business strategies.

“This collaborative venture embodies our enduring commitment to fostering educational excellence and enhancing the career-readiness of our students as they step into the dynamic realm of international trade.” –Michael Hobeck, Dean of Academics

To earn FITT credentials, students are required to complete at least 3 of the FITT-designated courses within the International Business stream at UFred. By successfully completing the required FITTskills courses and corresponding assessments, students become eligible to pursue FITT credentials. By completing the FITT-approved curriculum, students also take significant steps towards a pathway, where in the future, they may be able to pursue FITT’s professional certification – the Certified International Trade Professional (CITP®) designation, which is globally recognized and respected in the field of international trade.

“Any time we can work with an educational institution to empower students to compete on a global stage, we are thrilled to do so. Working with the University of Fredericton to better equip their students to find future success through crucial skills-building and credentials is a step we are happy to be taking,” said FITT President & CEO Caroline Tompkins, CITP.
