Construction Safety Coordinator, New Brunswick 

Kimber and Tucker Safety Coordinators Ltd. have been providing safety services to construction companies in Atlantic Canada since 1996. Presently our client base exceeds 180 companies. For more information please visit our website at Kimbertuckersafetycoordinators.com. We currently have an opening for a Safety Coordinator to join our New Brunswick Team.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist and advise management and supervisors as necessary. Our position is not one of enforcement; we have no authority on site.
  • Advise client of required changes in policies within the safety program, or Act/Regulations. This includes notification of items to which the provincial Department of Labour is giving orders.
  • Assist in or perform hazard assessments and safety plans.
  • If requested, perform orientations to new employees and sub-trades as required.
  • Review with clients the need for site emergency plans, and when possible test plans.
  • Assist in a comprehensive hazard assessment for the company.
  • Assist the client with the cooperative identification of required regulatory Safe Work Practices, Safe Job Procedures and Best Practices. To also cooperatively identify Safe Work Practices, Safe Job Procedures and Best Practices for tasks performed by their employees not “specifically” covered by regulation, but would come under the duty of the employer and the employee’s right to know. Also to assist in the development and review of these practices and procedures as required.
  • Ensure that the rules and disciplinary procedures are in place, and advise supervisor when non-compliance is noted.
  • Advise client of required PPE for certain jobs, and the training requirements for the PPE.
  • Advise client of other training requirements i.e. first aid, JOHS/safety representative/supervisor training.
  • Assist in the performance of site inspections with the supervisor as a “fresh set of eyes” to determine possible hazards and controls. To conduct tool box meetings with the workers if so requested by the client.
  • Assist/perform incident/accident investigations as necessary, and work in cooperation with the Department of Labour as required.
  • Perform internal audits from the COR provider (i.e. NBCSA) on an annual basis. Assist in the External audits every third year. Assist in the correction of noted deficiencies if the client so wishes.
  • Partake in JOHS meetings only if invited or requested to do so by the committee.
  • Attend meetings between the client and sub-contractors, property owners, or Department of Labor when requested.
  • Assist/advise clients annually in conducting an annual company safety meeting where management and staff have the opportunity to review the company OH&S Safety program to make certain that it is current/accurate for the scope of work that the company undertakes.
  • Make regular contact with clients to determine which new jobs/projects are starting in the near future and the status of current job sites. Discuss with the client which jobs/projects they want a specific hazard assessment performed prior to the commencement of work.
  • Conduct the annual Internal Audit using the audit process prescribed by the authority that provides the client with certification of their safety program.
  • This includes assisting in updating all the components of the program and performing interviews and completing the audit book. Provide advice and recommendations to enable the client to respond to the Audit Report where deficiencies need to be addressed in order to obtain certification. Also assist in preparing an action plan to identify areas of improvement to the client’s program.
Requirements:
  • Fluent in English and French (written and spoken).
  • NBCSA COR courses.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Knowledge of N.B. Act and Regulations.
  • Mature, reliable self-starter.
  • Personality.
  • Safety/Construction experience an asset.
  • Strong administration and organizational skills.
  • Ability to lead and work without supervision.

Safety Professional, Hinton, Alberta Construction

 
Alstar Oilfield Contractors in Hinton, Alberta is looking for a Safety Professional to help expand our safety program through projects and auditing.
 
Minimum requirements include:
  • CRSP
  • 5 + years’ experience in Oil & Gas as a Safety Professional
  • Strong Safety program development – skills & experience
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Internal and external auditing experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail; must be very organized
  • Requires little supervision; works well in a team environment

Weekends off.

Relocation to Hinton is mandatory.

H2S Alive, First Aid and an In-House Drug and Alcohol test are pre-requisites.

Our client is well known in the transportation industry and searching for a Director of Environment, Health, Safety and Security based in Saint John, NB who will provide strategic direction and leadership for the team.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Review internal safety policies and practices to ensure they are current and appropriate; conduct hazard and risk assessments and develop new or, where necessary, make recommendations to amend safety policies and procedures
  • Create a work environment which reflects a commitment to protecting the health and safety of employees
  • Ensure training plans are met
  • Responsible for being the primary point of contact for all regulatory bodies
Requirements:
  • Minimum 5 - 7 years of leadership/managerial experience within the Environmental Health and Safety function required
  • Highly effective written and verbal communications skills that can used with people of various backgrounds, experience, and education levels
  • Demonstrated highly effective presentation skills and training delivery skills
  • Ability to multitask
