Among a range of differing roles and responsibilities, Pozniak will work with the University to develop international reach through partnership development and market exploration while creating a “road map” of the differing safety organizations – both domestic and international – to programs offered by UFred. She will be working to help UFred build strategic relationships with growing markets across Canada, and around the world. Eager for the task, Pozniak said:

“I am delighted about this partnership with UFred, as we share a commitment and dedication to the OHS profession.”

Pozniak is currently the owner of Pozniak Safety Associates Inc. in Saskatoon, SK. Her numerous professional designations – Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), Certified Health and Safety Consultant (CHSC), Certified Health and Safety Management System Auditor (CHSMSA), Fellow of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (FIIRSM) and Chartered Member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health in the UK (CMIOSH) – showcase her diversified educational background. She is a well sought after educator, consultant, and advisor, as well as an International Key Note and Sessional Speaker.

Pozniak has been working with UFred since September of 2016, as a member of the UFred Advisory Committee (PAC) meeting regularly to discuss curricula, program process, and provide strategic advice making her an ideal candidate to partner with UFred ensuring the integrity and relevance of its OHS programs. Paired perfectly with UFred’s desire to understand strategic relationships in a growing global market, Pozniak’s decades of outstanding experience positions her as the global expert needed to help the university advance in the ever-changing discipline of OHS programs. “I am confident that my knowledge, experiences, and relationships throughout the world of safety can assist with their strategic vision”, she said.

Intense commitment, dedication, and professionalism have also resulted in many accolades for Pozniak, including the 2001 Saskatchewan Safety Professional of the Year award and the 2011 CSSE Bell Canada Safety Professional of the Year award. She was also prominently featured by ASSE in their 2011 publication, “100 Women Making a Difference in the Safety, Health, & Environmental Profession”. Most recently, in 2014, inducted into the Saskatchewan Safety Hall of Fame she continues to demonstrate a passion and dedication to a “safer world of work”.

At present, Pozniak is applying her skill, experience, and international presence to a project that would see a comparison of current and proposed curricula to the INSHPO global capabilities framework for the development of OHS education programs and a standard for the different capabilities of OHS practitioners and OHS professionals. In the end, these programs will be reviewed to meet the standards of national and select international designations and certifications ensuring they meet education standards for the specific areas of practice. The result will be an International defining standard for OHS education.

The University of Fredericton’s vision is to be a leader in the global evolution of professional education, and its mission is to provide a fully compatible lifelong path for the world’s professionals. Collaboration with distinguished global expert Eldeen Pozniak will ensure students an innovative, relevant, and thorough education to position themselves as industry leaders in the OHS field for today’s marketplace.
